Lori
Is a single mom of two small children. Her employer downsized and she lost her job. Since then she has lost her car and has not been able to find work. She is about to have her utilities cut off and be evicted from her apartment complex. She has no family in the area and no place to go if she gets evicted. We have provided her with food and local bus transit tickets to go out and look for new employment. She still has not found a new job and is in need of more food, rent & utility assistance, daycare assistance and bus tickets. Louis
Has also lost his job. He does have a car but it recently broke down and does not have the funds for the repairs. He has secured a new job working for a school. He is also facing an eviction from his apartment complex and has a need for food for his famil and bus tickets to get to work until he can get his car repaired. Amy
This one is close to home and makes me scream and weep at the same time. Amy is only 22yrs old and married to a wonderful husband that has the stress of the world on his shoulders right now. He has been a trooper. Amy gave birth to their first child and then had 2 seizures. There were approx 16 doctors trying to figure out the cause, and nobody has been able to do so. After a week in ICU they put her on Anti-Seizure and High Blood Pressure medication. Once she was able to travel they moved to another state where her husband had employment. She was told to see a Numerologist as soon as she arrived. That was about 2 months ago as nobody would see her without health insurance. Her condition started changing, and not for the good. She started having episodes that I will list below in her words what she was going through. In the last two weeks she has been taken to the Emergency Room twice and both times they still could not figure out the problem. She was told that she needs to see a Cardiologist and a Neurologist and they did not have one on staff. They referred her out and said they would allow them to go on a payment plan and was told how much they needed to pay at their first visits. She was finally able to get into to see the Neurologist but they were not able to accept the payment plan that they were told was acceptable. Instead they took every bit of the money they had and said they still owe an additional $550 for the first visit. She also has to have multiple tests and lab work performed that is more additional costs and cannot do so until the funds are available. They applied for government assistance and was denied because her husband made $50 per month more than what was allowed. They have approx $15,000+ in Emergency Room bills in the last two weeks and now cannot been seen by the needed doctors until they can pay initial payments that are require. The upcoming visits are $49, $200, $65, $80 and the cost of an MRI, CAT and EEG. Here is just one example of what she has been going through.
“About 5 minutes ago, I had another episode. I was laying down, calm, relaxing then I started feeling my heart beating hard again (not fast, just HARD) and the chest pain that I have had since yesterday worsens. Tried to breathe and hope that it would go away. Maybe 30 seconds later, I had to sit up really short of breathe and vision blurry… feeling faint/not able to talk/feeling like I was going to stop breathing or pass out. Lasted about 1 minute, then slowly started easing up. Had to take off my clothes because I immediately started sweating like crazy (when a minute before, I was actually cold). RJ took my blood pressure immediately once I could talk to him. It wasn’t that high at all… 123/85 or something. Heart rate 73. I am fine now… but it keeps feeling like it’s going to start again (this happened for a couple of hours after the last episode yesterday on the way to the ER). Still have the chest pain just lighter than it was at it’s peak. I have no idea what’s wrong. Gong to head up to bed soon. I just don’t want to have another episode in the middle of the night and can’t wake up enough to control it or do something about it (but really, what could I do anyway).”
When these attacks come on her, she can not talk or stand as she collapses to the ground. Amy & RJ are fighting through these attacks on Amy’s health the best they can. They have finally been able to get doctors to see her without the health insurance, but now it is a problem with having the money to be able to get the treatments she needs. As you can see Satan is attacking all three of these special people in multiple and different ways. Not just these people but everybody faces difficult times and storms in their life. There is Hope and Encouragement available to us all through Jesus Christ if we will truly call on His name and allow Him to help us through to the other side. Sometimes we get through our storms fairly quickly and sometimes it takes more time.
